Meditation and mindfulness are hot topics right now and though there is no “silver bullet” that will heal our clients, these are powerful tools for clients who struggle with anxiety and depression. This 4-week course meets two hours per week. The course is experiential, combining information, experience and practical applications for therapy.  The four sessions will address meditation and mindfulness basics, working with the body, working with the mind and using meditation and mindfulness practices in the context of therapy.

Course Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn the basics of meditation and mindfulness practices and ways they can be implemented in therapy.

  2. Participants will learn the “Mechanics of Panic” and the way meditation and mindfulness impact the central nervous system, reducing the severity and frequency of panic attacks

  3. Participants will understand the bi-directional relationship between depression/anxiety and unconscious cognitions and the role mindfulness plays in recognizing and stopping these cognitions, reducing the frequency and severity of recurrent depression and increasing resiliency.

Cost: $150 for the 4-week course, no refunds or continuing education credit for missed classes.

8.0 CORE contact hours of continuing education have been approved by the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of Georgia (LPCA CE Approval #7990-18S)
